CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

“WHY THE FROWN?” Joshua asked as he walked into Adam’s lab.

“Just received info from Spicy. I think we have a rogue agent in the White House.”

“What?”

“I ran a diagnostics on the phone’s location. Eighty percent of the satellite hits are from the tower servicing the White House.”

“What about the Oval Office?”

“No. It is on a separate server. But it’s too damn close, Joshua.”

“The priority is protecting the election, little brother. We are depending on your brains to get us through this. We are going to protect this presidency,” Joshua reassured him.

“It seems things are deeper than we initially thought.” Adam nodded. “We knew they were close enough to have information that only insiders should have. We attributed that to Gavin Roberts, however, this phone Spicy uncovered put the enemy in the White House. But you are right. It is time to bring the bull to an end.” He pushed the button on the desk. “Hammer, step inside, please.”

“Why Hammer?”

Adam shrugged with a smirk. “He drives things home. You are about to see what I mean.”

“Boss, you called.” Calvin Jr. walked into the room. “Yo, Joshua. What’s up, man?”

The two exchanged fist bumps. “Were you able to convince the kid to come in?”

“The kid is tweaking the game right now.”

“Hey, I just got that game lined up where I wanted it,” Adam protested.

“There were a few holes, so I gave the go ahead to tighten it up,” Calvin explained. “Yo, but check this out. This is just a kid who is trying to pay for school. The request to build the program was received via the under belly of the internet. The specs they requested were met, the program was shipped back to them and the payment was submitted.”

“Time is of the essence here, Hammer. The Presidency is at stake. We need this guy to cooperate with us to stop this program from working,” Joshua explained.

“It’s going to cost you.”

Joshua and Adam glanced at each other. “How much?”

“A job,” Calvin replied. “I’m trying to convince someone to come to the light which will eventually cost them money. The brains and the talent are there. That has been proven. The philosophy is simple. Give a man a meal and you feed him once. Give him a job and he is set for life.”

“Bring him in,” Adam replied.

“All right,” Calvin said. “Just know you are not dealing with a slouch.”

“Pay him?” Joshua smirked. “He better hope I don’t break his little ass. Bring him in here.”

“Okay.” Calvin smirked as he stepped out.

“You are a little hostile, my brother,” Adam stated.

“This is serous shit, Adam. This is not a game, the Presidency is at stake.”

“I understand, however, we are dealing with generation Y. They don’t give a damn about urgency,” Adam chuckled.

“Yeah, we really don’t.”

Adam looked up and Joshua jerked around.

“Zoe, this is the man I told you about. He needs to explain what’s happening. Joshua meet Alzoe Greene.”

“You are Alzoe Greene?” Joshua smiled.

“My father wanted a son.” Zoe returned the smile.

Adam was so busy laughing at Joshua’s reaction to the 5'4" beauty who had entered the room.
